Would you like to be an MDG
volunteer?

Volunteers have played a critical role in supporting MDG's mission since its creation.  Thanks to deeply involved, dynamic and committed volunteers, we have been able not only to respond to the needs of the Talibé children, but also to establish a network of internation partners who share our vision for these children.

This volunteer program has been carefully designed to refect international ethical standards and practices.  We can assure you that your contributions will be in complete accord with the values and ethics of the local community.

Your role at MDG?

We have developed five possibilities for you to contribute to Maison de la Gare, and to the Talibé children whom we serve:

  - Health Care and Hygiene

  - Art, Music and Excursions

 - Gardening and Site Development

  - Education

  Sports

How will you live in Saint Louis?

You will have two alternatives as to how you can live in Senegal:

Host Families are warm and open and have a very generous sense of hospitality.  This is the best alternative to achieve a sense of integration into Senegalese society.  Your host family with provide you with your lodging and with three meals each day (breakfast, dinner and supper).

Maison de la Gare's Guide for Host Families ("Guide pour les familles d'accueil") is available only in French.  This guide will give you a good understanding of what you can expect to experience.

You can also chose to stay in one of the many small hotels ("auberges") of Saint Louis.  We have include in the prices for this alternative the cost of breakfast and the evening meal.
